Cooling in the production of plastic products
Katko manufactures all of its switches in its own factories. The company built new, modern production facilities in Konala, Helsinki, where cooling is used in production processes. For switch products, these processes involve the use of moulds to produce the desired shapes from melted thermoplastic. To speed up the cooling of the plastic, the mould is first cooled with water.
The production facility’s cooling was realised with Chiller’s Chillquick chilled water station with a liquid cooler, which was installed indoors on the new premises. Chiller also installed pipes for condensate and operating circuits. The energy efficiency of the cooling system was boosted with a free-cooling function.
